REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
(INDIVIDUAL CONSULTANTS FOR AGRICULTURE FINANCE OPERATIONS)

- The African Development Bank seeks expressions of interest from suitably qualified individual consultants to provide market and credit analysis support to the Agriculture Finance Division (AHFR.1) of the Agriculture and Rural Financial Sector Department (AHFR), working on the business development, evaluation of eligible project proposals, as well as on internal review and processing of related lending transactions. The position will be based in Centurion, South Africa ;
- The assignment will support various functions of the investment officer(s) through: (i) conducting market researches to identify potential companies and projects which the Bank can invest in; (ii) analyzing countries’ market conditions and agriculture commodities/value-chains in selected markets; (iii) assessing financial and non-financial information on selected companies/projects; (iv) reviewing various documents and following up with companies on pending information/documentation; (v) drafting project appraisal documents and updating a wide range of internal documents to inform relevant stakeholders on the projects’ progress; (vi) assisting mission/meeting/conference call preparations with various companies and relevant stakeholders, and ; (vii) assisting other tasks when requested by the investment officer(s) ;
- The Agriculture and Rural Finance Department hereby invites suitably qualified individual consultants to submit their interest in providing the services described above. The minimum educational level required will be a Masters’ degree in Business Administration/Management, Economics, Accounting, Finance, or relevant discipline. The ideal candidate is expected to have at least 4 years’ relevant experience spanning corporate banking, agriculture finance, project finance in agriculture/food industries in a commercial, investment, or development bank environment. Familiarity with markets in the SADC region and a deep understanding of the agriculture/food sector in these countries is essential and knowledge/experience in other regions such as EAC is advantage. The incumbent must be proficient in MS Office suite and should be fluent in English while working knowledge of French/Portuguese would be considered an asset. Interested consultants are required to provide information on their capacity and experience indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (CVs, description of similar assignments, etc.) – please see Annex I for the proposed template ;
- The eligibility criteria, the establishment of the short-list, and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the Bank’s Rules and Procedures for the Use of Corporate Consultants. The AfDB is under no obligation to shortlist any consultant who expresses interest ;
- This assignment will have an initial duration of 6 months and the Consultant is expected to be based in Centurion, South Africa. The commencement date is planned for the 1st of September 2020 ;
