GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE
UNITED REPUBLIC OF TANZANIA
NORTH WEST GRID (400kV NYAKANAZI – KIGOMA TRANSMISSION LINE)
PROJECT
- The United Republic of Tanzania has received a loan from the African Development Bank to finance the North West Grid 400 kV Nyakanazi – Kigoma Transmission Line Project.
- The overall objective of the project is to improve supply, reliability and affordability of electricity in Kigoma Region by providing main grid access and consequently contributing to socio-economic transformation of Tanzania. In particular, the project will:
- Lower energy production costs through decommissioning expensive diesel-power generation plants in Kigoma & Kasulu in addition to reduction in greenhouse gas emissions;
- Enhance job creation;
- Provide evacuation facilities for proposed renewable generation plants in northwestern Tanzania.
- The project comprises the following components:
- Component A: A 280 km transmission line of 400 kV from Nyakanazi to Kigoma;
- Component B: Transmission line associated substations at Nyakanazi and Kigoma;
- Component C: Distribution networks including last-mile connections in Kigoma region;
- Component D: Consultancy Services for Project Supervision & Management;
- Component E: Annual Audit Project Audits for 2019 – 2023;
- Component F: Compensation and Resettlement Compensation and
Resettlement for Project Affected Persons (PAPs).
- Procurement of Works and Goods and acquisition of Consultancy Services will be in accordance with the Bank’s “Procurement Policy for Bank Group funded Operations – October 2015.” Bidding and Request for Proposals documents are expected to be available by September 2018.
