SPECIFIC PROCUREMENT NOTICE

KENOL-SAGANA-MARUA HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

LOT 1: KENOL-SAGANA (A2)

TENDER NO. KeNHA/2197/2019

1. The Government of the Republic of Kenya has applied for financing from the African Development Bank (AfDB) to finance the Kenol-Sagana-Marua Highway Improvement Project, and intends to apply part of the proceeds for this loan to make eligible payments under the contract for the Construction of LOT I: Upgrading/Dualling of the Kenol – Sagana (A2) road section (48Km).

2. The Government of Kenya through the Kenya National Highways Authority, herein referred to as the Client now invites sealed bids through Open Competitive Bidding (OCB) from eligible bidders for the construction of Lot 1: Kenol-Sagana road section (48Km).

3. The project starts at the Kenol/Murang’a junction (A2/B25) at Kenol town and traverses through trading centers of Makuyu, Makutano and ends at Sagana Town.

4. The works entails the construction of a dual carriageway consisting of four lanes. The works will also entail construction of a grade separated junction at the A2/B24 junction at Makutano, construction of major and minor drainage structures, access roads and social amenities along the road.

5. The pavement structure shall comprise of asphalt concrete surfacing, Dense Bitumen Macadam base, cement improved Graded Crushed Stone (GCS) sub-base and natural material improved subgrade. A Single seal surface treatment shall be carried out on the main carriageway.

6. The following are the approximate quantities for the major Bill items of the works:

8. A complete set of bidding documents will be available from Thursday, 1^st August, 2019 and may be obtained free of charge from the Kenya National Highways website – payment of a non-refundable fee of KShs. 1,000.00 (Kenya Shillings One Thousand Only) in form of a banker’s cheque payable to: Kenya National Highways Authority.

9. The provisions in the Instructions to Bidders and in the General Conditions of Contract are the provisions of the African Development Bank Standard Bidding Document.

10. A site visit shall be conducted by the Employer and shall be organized on Tuesday, 14^th August, 2019 at 1000hrs local time starting with an assembly and briefing at Kenol/Murang’a junction (A2/B25) at Kenol.

11. A Pre-bid meeting shall be held on Monday, 19^th August, 2019 at 1000hrs local time at KeNHA Headquarters 4^th Floor, Block A, Barabara Plaza, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Nairobi, Off Mazao Road (Opposite Aviation House).

12. The bids must be accompanied by a bid security of 120,000,000(Kenya shillings one hundred and twenty million only) or its equivalent in a freely convertible currency.

13. Bids enclosed in plain packages and clearly marked with the Tender Reference Number and Description for identification as appropriate, sealed and transmitted by courier or delivered by hand so as to be received at the address below, not later than 1000hrs local time on Monday, 7^th October, 2019.

14. Electronic bidding will NOT be permitted. Late Bids will be rejected. Opening of the Bids will take place immediately thereafter at the KeNHA Boardroom, 4^th Floor, Block A, Barabara Plaza, on Monday, 7^th October, 2019, 1000hrs local time in the presence of bidder’s representatives who choose to attend.
