Request for expressions of interest  for  firm consultancy,  pilot study on the implementation of biopesticide recommendations tool in Kenya

Context :

The African Development Bank (“AfDB” or “the Bank”) promotes economic growth and social progress across Africa. The Bank has secured financial resources from the Korea Africa Cooperation (KOAFEC) Trust Fund to develop and implement on a pilot basis a “Biopesticide Recommendation Tool” in Kenya and put in place a Monitoring and Evaluation mechanism that will help reduce the use of pesticides which will improve human health. The assignment is expected to be undertaken within the period of six months.

The AfDB now invites eligible firms to indicate their interest in providing these services by submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI). Interested consultancy firms must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Consultants may constitute joint-ventures to enhance their chances of qualification.

The recruited firm will be expected to deliver the working “Biopesticide Recommendation Tool”, providing biological control solutions as an alternative to chemical pesticide control, that has been tested in the field and can demonstrate a clear sustainability plan incorporating government, private sector or other partner engagement for further testing and deployment. The deliverables should also include a monitoring and evaluation framework that will enable assessment of the general uptake and use of the tool.

Eligibility criteria, establishment of the short-list and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the AfDB’s “Rules and Procedures for the use of Consultants” May 2008, Revised July 2012, which is available on the Bank’s website at http://www.afdb.org. Please, note that interest expressed by a Consulting Firm does not imply any obligation on the part of the Bank to include it in the shortlist.

Expressions of interest must be emailed to the e-mail addresses below by 17:00 local Abidjan time on 15 July 2019 and mention “EOI – Consultancy Services for Pilot Study on the

Implementation of Biopesticide Recommendation Tool in Kenya”
