Component 1:
Land Surveillance; Mapping; Analysis; Geo-tagging Study :
- Jatropha Africa, Ghana, has received a Grant from the African Development Bank and intends to utilize part of this Grant towards the cost of the following Assignment: Land Surveillance; Mapping; Analysis; Geo-Tagging Study ;
- The services to be provided under the Assignment include :
Feasibility studies covering the following objectives :
- Aquifer and hydrological mapping (satellite analytics & on ground) ;
- Land and Soil mapping, soil analyses, soil types, drainage, nutritional status (satellite analytics & on ground) ;
- Geo-tagging (adding geographical information meta-data through various media: satellite data; other digital and physical locational feeds ) ;
- Selection of the most appropriate zone for the 300+ ha seed unit and associated facilities ;
- Activities, Components and Tasks ;
- Access freesat and subscription satellite data for Kintampo area of Brong-Ahafo and specific co-ordinates of land lease area provided by JA. Use of local knowledge and existing mapping information from SRI, soils survey and other local sources ;
- Data analysis and mapping of land, water aquifers, lagoon locations, drainage, soil types, nutritional status, erosion management ;
- Geo-tagging of land areas ;
- Interpretation of sensing data and recommendations for seed multiplication enterprise, including soil types and zones, best location for seed farm, buildings and storage ;
- Feasibility reports and recommendations: comprising component 1 of Land Surveillance; Mapping; Analysis; Geo-tagging. The consultant shall deploy the best team of experts with the demonstrable practical experience of producing complete and detailed geospatial, geographic, and pedological studies with supporting data and analyses. It is recommended that the consultant constitutes a team of experts covering the fields of, but not limited to :
- Hydrology and catchment analysis ;
- Pedology and international sampling methodologies ;
- Agronomy ;
- Remote sensing specialists including active and passive RS, multispectral and hyperspectral bands, mid & near infrared (NIR), thermal IR, UV, LiDAR survey, GIS; and ;
- Environmental Engineering ;
- Ecology.
Timing 3 months from start.
- Jatropha Africa invites Consulting Firms to indicate their interest in providing the above-described services. Interested Firms shall provide information (documents, reference to similar services, experience in similar assignments, etc.) on their qualifications and experience demonstrating their ability to undertake this Assignment ;
- The eligibility criteria, the establishment of a short list and the selection procedure shall be in conformity with the African Development Bank’s Procurement Policy for Bank Group Funded Operations, approved by the Bank’s Boards on 14 October 2015, and available on the Bank Website at http://www.afdb.org. Please, note that interest expressed by a Firm does not imply any obligation on the part of the Grant Recipient to include it in the shortlist ;
- The estimated duration of services is 3 months and the estimated starting date is March 2019 ;
