Overview :

This Terms of Reference (ToR) is for consultancy services to document success stories for UNDP-GEF full-sized project titled ‘Climate Proofing Local Development Gains in Rural and Urban Areas of Machinga and Mangochi Districts’. The project is implemented by the Government of Malawi, through the Ministry of Natural Resources Energy and Mining with support from Global Environment Facility (GEF)-Special Climate Fund (SCF) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The goal of the project is to secure the development and food security gains from the baseline programs by empowering communities to integrate climate risk considerations in the development policies, plans, projects and actions. The project is providing knowledge, tools, capacities and methodologies for the adoption of an ecosystems and community-based approach to adaptation, which is more effective in enabling climate vulnerable people to plan for and adapt to the impacts of climate change. The project supports over 458,371 beneficiaries in 91,674 households.

The objective of the consultancy is:

  1. To document the work of climate proofing project and increase visibility of results that have been made in Malawi’s climate change adaptation planning and implementation;
  2. To share the documented knowledge with stakeholders as part of promoting climate change adaptation through best practices, communication and public awareness for positive change
