  1. The African Development Bank Group (AfDB or the Bank) and the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) hereby invites Individual Consultants to indicate their interest in the following assignment: Consultancy services for Country Studies on gender responsive climate resilient solutions in Africa (henceforth “the assignment”) ;
  2. The assignment will assess and report on the current situation for women and men in the country in relation to the impacts of climate change, identify gaps and opportunities in the country to promote gender equality, and research and identify case studies and best practice for gender equality, climate resilience and sustainable development. The case studies should identify key steps to ensure that gender equality and the rights of vulnerable people especially women and youth, are central to climate change adaptation and mitigation actions ;
  3. The services to be provided under the Assignment will include the following ;
  4. Inception Report. This report is a deliverable of the assessment design stage. The consultant will produce a list of relevant literature including data sources for the country; identification of the best practice (case study) in the relevant country that ensures gender equality and the rights of vulnerable people especially women and youth, are central to climate change adaptation and mitigation actions; and detailed work plan for the entire consultancy ;
  5. Analysis of gender and climate change data at country level. The consultant will collate all gender and climate change data at country levels as specified in the Inception Report. Thereafter, the consultant will conduct analytical assessment of the data.
  6. Technical report. The consultant will produce a technical report containing all findings and conclusions and supporting evidence. The consultant will contribute to a onepage infonote, based on the technical report ;
  7. The AfDB and WUSC invites individual consultants to indicate their interest in providing the above-described consultancy services. Interested eligible consultants shall provide information about their qualifications and experience demonstrating their ability to provide these services (CVs, documentation, references for similar services, experience in comparable assignments, etc.) ;
  8. The eligibility criteria, the establishment of a shortlist and the selection procedure are in conformity with the AfDB’s Rules and Procedure for the Use of Corporate Consultants.

Please, note that interest expressed by an individual consultant does not imply any obligation on the part of the Bank to include him/her in the shortlist.The estimated duration of services is approximately 2 (two) months and the expected starting date is by end-December 2018.

Expressions of interest must be received at the address below (either electronically by email or hard copy by post) no later than 30 November 2018 at 18:00 hrs. Abidjan time and specifically mentioning “Country studies on gender responsive climate resilient solutions in Africa.”

WUSC is working in partnership with the CGIAR Research program on climate change agriculture and food security (CCAFS), African Working Group on Gender and Climate Change (AWGGCC) and Women in Global Science and Technology (WISAT) to implement the Inclusive Climate Change Adaptation for a Sustainable Africa (ICCASA) project.
