Role synopsis
The Sales Director role exists to lead and performance manage country or channel (where relevant) sales managers to ensure delivery of financial and strategic targets. The role is accountable for delivery of cluster HSSE and financial performance targets (e.g. LOPC, SVAR, DAFWC, RIF, Volume, RCOP, Cash, GM and TCC) and for delivery of country specific WILG objectives. As a part of the Regional Leadership Team, the role is responsible for coordinating high level functional support for the countries and also ensuring delivery of OMS and HSSE compliance and people management processes.

Key accountabilities

  1. Lead implementation of the country WILG strategy by ensuring strategic objectives and milestones are embedded into country plans. Support strategy development activities for countries to serve sustainable long term value creation target of the company.
  2. Deliver cluster financial performance targets for all sales channels including Volume, RCOP, Cash, GM, Overdue and TCC’s.
  3. Deliver cluster HSSE performance targets including SVAR, LOPC, DAFWC, RIF and ensure safety is the number one priority for our people and all of our activities.
  4. Lead, coach, manage and motivate Country Sales Managers or Channels Sales Managers to achieve the targeted performance metrics & scorecard items as per Annual Business Plans, and conduct regular business reviews with all countries or channels ensuring each country or channel has a corresponding business plan for delivery.
  5. Lead Country Leadership Team in line with the responsibilities that are defined in “Working the Castrol Way Document”. Manage functional interactions and cluster/regional level relationships by representing CLT. (where relevant)
  6. Deliver simple and standard processes in line with “Working the Castrol Way Document” both for the Cluster Sales Operations and Functions.
  7. Manage people resources allocations for the Cluster in line with the DoAs to ensure strategic priorities are fulfilled.
  8. Manage high level senior relationships with key strategic partners, distributors and customers within the cluster.
  9. As a member of the Regional Leadership Team, actively contribute to the development and execution of the business strategy and plan, with specific emphasis upon:

(a) Delivery of WILG priorities
(b) Delivery of the cluster annual plan
(c) Develops local sales succession plans by building a robust talent pipeline, growing leadership capability and technical expertise, establishing a culture of excellence and high performance and embedding BP’s Diversity & Inclusion agenda.
(d) Creating a “winning” culture based upon high levels of inclusion and engagement.

  1. Develop and implement a systematic approach through the embedding of relevant OMS elements and ensuring appropriate risk reviews are undertaken appropriately.
  2. Improve and deliver customer experience in targeted sectors and customer groups. Ensure delivery of our promises by seeking continuous improvement and efficiency in all operations making sure the voice of the customer is represented in every decision we make. Drive standardisation of our sales offers in line with our basic customer offer.

Ensure that all activities conducted through 3 rd parties or intermediaries in country comply fully with our own CoC and local competition legalisation. Ensure compliance with country regulations

Essential Education

Educational background:

Minimum Graduate, an MBA or equivalent degree would be value added.

Essential experience and job requirements

  • More than 10 years sales management experience of handling a large geography with diverse businesses and channels is a must, wider general management experience would be a significant benefit
  • Proven success in senior leadership roles having led a diverse group of strong professionals
  • Should have a well-rounded business experience to be able to implement cross functional plans
  • Experience of leading and implementing business transformation projects would be very helpful in succeeding in this role
  • Key Account Management and building relationships with large customers is essential
  • Experience of dealing with multiple important stakeholders both within and outside the organization is essential for success in this role
