Duties :

Basic Function of the Position :

Foreman for the Embassy Automotive garage. Responsible for daily maintenance and repair of the Embassy fleet of motor vehicles, motorcycles and other small equipment engines.

As a working supervisor directs a workforce of employees engaged in the maintenance and repair of motor vehicles, and personally performs skilled or specialized repair work.  Inspects damaged or malfunctioning vehicles to determine nature and extent of repairs needed, and to develop shop repair orders.  Participates in the development of a maintenance schedule for embassy/post vehicles.  Explains and interprets blueprints and other guides and directives and gives on-the-job instruction on specific repairs to subordinates as needed.  Assures that needed tools, equipment, parts, and materials are available.  Inspects work in progress and upon completion to assure adequacy.  Maintains and prepares records on various aspects of maintenance and repair, including labor and material costs, material used, etc.

Qualifications and Evaluations :

Requirements :

Experience :

At least five years of experience as an automotive mechanic.

Job knowledge :

Must have full journeyman automotive mechanic knowledge of established practices and procedures in the specific trade involved.

 

Education Requirements :

Secondary school completion is required. Vocational training or apprenticeship in an institution producing journeyman skills or equivalent is required.

Evaluations :

Language :

English level III is required. “This may be tested”

French level III is required . “This may be tested” Bambara and any language spoken in Mali is required.

 

Skills and abilities :

Must have local driver’s license.
