HIAS is looking for Food Security Manager – Caracas,  Venezuela

 

Context :

The Food Security Manager will lead the design, implementation and monitoring of all HIAS Venezuela emergency food interventions. S/he will be responsible for the provision of technical support and guidance to all food security staff, and will provide guidance on all interventions, including start up activities, staff training and emergency response. Bringing expertise and thought leadership to the position, the Food Security Manager will report to the Director of Programs and Emergency Response.

Please be advised that there is a possibility of this role being based in Bogota,Colombia or Panama City,Panama.

 

 

Essential Functions :

  • Provides leadership and management of all aspects of program design, planning, implementation, quality and accountability for HIAS food security interventions throughout Venezuela ;
  • Manages the food security team including training, capacity building and troubleshooting ;
  • Coordinates with the logistics and finance departments regarding materials and support needed for all activities ;
  • Ensures that program implementation is responsive to community needs and consistent with HIAS principles and international best practice (e.g. Sphere standards) ;
  • Documents lessons learned and best practices and integrates into program activities ;
  • Conducts frequent field visits to all program sites in to ensure programs are adapted to local needs, provides quality control assurance, and conducts regular audits of program activities ;
  • Provides regular internal and external reports on program status ;
  • Supports project design and provides input and technical support to sector-related components of funding proposals to develop and expand existing programming ;
  • Integrates community approaches, gender sensitivity, Do No Harm/protection mainstreaming, environmental sensitivity and capacity building into all activities as appropriate ;
  • Represents HIAS to government, donors, NGOs and other relevant stakeholders in the Food Security sector ;
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships and coordinates with relevant international and local agencies active in the food security sector, as well as other international agencies in the field, including local authorities ;
  • Trains and supports the program staff on Food Security issues ;
  • Engages in other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications and Requirements :

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience with INGOs with at least five (5) years in an emergency context;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Livelihoods/Nutrition area, Master’s degree preferred ;
  • At least three (3) years of management experience ;
  • Significant and varied work experience in Food Security programming and implementation ;
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills ;
  • Written and spoken fluency in both English and Spanish ;
  • Commitment to HIAS values and mission ;
  • Ability to travel throughout Venezuela and internationally as required ;
  • This posting will be located in Venezuela, or if necessary, Bogota, Colombia or Panama City, Panama. ;Assignment in Venezuela will be considered an unaccompanied duty station.
