Context :

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Operations, the direct supervision of the Programme Coordinator (Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM)), the technical guidance of the Protection Officer for Protection issues, the successful candidate will be responsible for taking part in Camp Management mobile missions, and applying basic theoretical knowledge and administrative skills in supporting protection mainstreaming efforts within CCCM as well as general CCCM programme activities in South Sudan.

Core Functions / Responsibilities :

  1. Arrange and participate in Camp Management mobile missions in South Sudan, in accordance with the approved work plan ;
  2. Take into account women’s participation, persons with specific needs (such as the elderly and the persons with disability), youth and minority groups in the completion of all work assignments related to protection mainstreaming ;
  3. Take part in the registration and headcounts of site populations, paying attention to gender, age and diversity dimensions ;
  4. Compile general background information from readily available sources and draft supporting tables and charts in relation to the development of mobile response closure and phase-out strategies, in close coordination with the CCCM Cluster and the relevant partners ;
  5. Support the development of Camp Management training materials and training delivery by evaluating and documenting training needs on protection mainstreaming, as per advice of Protection Officer and Programme Manager ;
  6. Under close supervision, draft specific sections or elements of assessment reports, work plans and mission reports for mobile responses carried out by camp management ;
  7. Conduct Field visits to undertake specific components of Protection Mainstreaming assessments and to assist with integrating protection principles in day to day work.
  8. Make logistical arrangements for mobile responses ;
  9. In format dictated by supervisor’s instructions, check Donor Reports for clarity, consistency and completeness ;
  10. Compile information for regular IOM Monitoring Reports in close coordination with the database assistants and the Units involved ;
  11. Assess, synthesize and compile information on protection mainstreaming efforts and share data with Protection Officer and Programme Manager to strengthen the protective environment ;
  12. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience :

Education :

  • Master’s degree in Social Science, Development Planning, Public Health, Statistics or a related field from an accredited academic institution ; or
  • University degree in the above fields with two years of relevant professional experience.

Experience :

  • Work experience in Camp management and/or Protection ;
  • Training in M & E and report writing ;
  • Ability to consolidate information from multiple sources ;
  • Ability to work with basic presentation software, e.g. Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.

Languages :

IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish ;

For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of Arabic, French and/or Spanish is an advantage ;
