Fundamental in realizing this lofty humanitarian ambition, is that IOM engage the national and international community in our work- accepting both input from and disseminating our message to key actors.

Under the general supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) and the direct supervision of the Head of the Program Support Unit, the successful candidate will support the Program Support Unit (PSU).

Core Functions / Responsibilities :

  1. Populate and maintain the PSU project database, including project development and funded projects. Track all project deliverables, from signature of new project agreements to project reporting deadlines to project close-out ;
  2. Assist in drafting and reviewing project reports and proposals, including facilitating internal and regional endorsement processes ;
  3. Research the background on specific issues and initiatives and prepare written summaries and bibliographies as agreed in each case ;
  4. Conduct research on funding opportunities, funding priorities and donor programming interests ;
  5. Gather data of all IOM Haiti departments to be used for external relations; this task may include liaising with the internal departments to gather relevant data ;
  6. Assist in project monitoring and evaluation, including data collection, data entry, record keeping, contribute to data analysis ;
  7. Provide secretarial and/or administrative support for meetings, trainings and/or workshops ;
  8. Draft correspondence, talking points, minutes, and reports ;
  9. Assist with organization of field visits by donor representatives, IOM visitors and GoH officials ;
  10. Assist in the development of IOM Information Packages, ensuring appropriate content and targeting ;
  11. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

 

Training Components and Learning Elements

The successful candidate will acquire technical knowledge in project development, reporting, monitoring and evaluation, and donor liaison. He/she will be able to access online resources at the disposal of all IOM staff, such as the IOM Project Handbook and IOM publications, to enhance general knowledge in IOM’s various thematic areas of intervention. He/She will also gain experience in working in an international, multi-cultural intergovernmental organization, while interacting with international donors and local government counterparts.

 

Required Qualifications and Experience :

Education

University degree in International Law, International Development, Social Sciences, Journalism, Business Administration, Marketing or a related field from an accredited academic institution.

Experience

  • Experience working in INGO, UN, or Intergovernmental Organizations; thorough knowledge of the functions of intergovernmental organizations ;
  • Familiarity with the issues of migration (including migration management, counter trafficking in persons, migrant smuggling, labor migration, border management,) and emergency programmes is a distinct asset ;
  • Familiarity with IOM’s procedures and functioning is an asset ;
  • Experience in editing technical documents and production of materials targeting outside audiences ;
  • Excellent communications, negotiation and writing skills; including editing of technical documents and production of material targeting outside audiences ;
  • Strong analytical, strategic and creative thinking ;
  • Ability to lead and active learner ;
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds ;
  • Demonstrated gender awareness and gender sensitivity ;
  • Personal commitment; efficiency, flexibility and drive for results ;
  • Familiarity with standard office applications; capacity in MS Publisher, Photoshop, website design and similar application desired ;
  • Knowledge of social media an advantage.

 

Languages

Fluency in English and French is required. Working knowledge of Haitian Creole is an advantage.
