Description :

The Forest-Environment Programme (PFE) is a bilateral project implemented by GIZ, supporting the sustainable management of forest resources in Cameroon. Within the framework of the African Forest Landscape Restoration (AFR100) initiative, the Forest-Environment Program proposes to contribute to the design and implementation of adapted restoration approaches through local landscape land use planning (at least 20 000 ha) in its areas of intervention, AFR100 joint projects of the ‘Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau’ (German Development Bank / KfW) and council forests. The expected results aim to ensure integrated land use planning for land areas with a high forest component for selected landscapes; the coordination of the land use planning occurs at the intersectoral/national, regional, local and council levels; the assessment of the conditions for landscape restoration and the creation of local feedback mechanisms on land use is envisaged, including the participation of women and indigenous peoples.

Your tasks :

  • Advisory support in the search for appropriate managers in the implementation of restoration projects in the municipalities targeted by PFE and KfW and in the development of landscape management plans and agreements
  • Support the process of assessing the conditions for restoring and implementing restoration options and their governance; collecting the best knowledge provided by local actors and the best available scientific data for landscapes; sharing this knowledge for analysis and case construction for restoration options
  • Support capacity building of communal development services to better manage conflicts over land use and ownership; assist in the appropriation for communal purposes of the information available in the databases
  • Support the FLR component of the PFE through close collaboration with other LUP actors at national and regional level.
