Summary :

The work schedule for this position is : Full Time  – 40 hours per week

Duties :

Basic Function of the Position – Under the supervision of the Cultural Affairs Specialist with the Public Affairs Officer oversight, the incumbent is responsible for United States Government alumni outreach and programming and for educational advising. S/he: creates Alumni and Youth networks to strengthen Chadian understanding of the United States, advance U.S. policies and values, and promote study in the U.S.; proposes and manages grants related to alumni and educational programs, serving as Grants Officer Representative or Program Specialist, as appropriate; identifies host nation candidates for USG exchange programs, and promotes and facilitates their active engagement upon return; develops online and traditional media content for outreach; and conducts presentations and trainings promoting study in the U.S. The Coordinator must run an active outreach program to engage youth and Chadian alumni of USG programs in order to advance Integrated Country Strategy goals and objectives. This is accomplished by developing and implementing alumni and youth outreach strategies; effectively using the Contact Relationship Management database, and promoting the use of online YALI resources; organizing events and programs countrywide; integrating alumni groups into Mission activities; using Post’s American Spaces as a tool for engagement and outreach; and contributing content to Embassy social media platforms.

Qualifications and Evaluations :

Requirements :

EXPERIENCE :  Two years progressively responsible experience in cultural activities, program management, or international or public relations in multi-lingual setting is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE :  Role of Public Affairs in US Embassy. Resource management experience.

Education Requirements : University degree in Liberal Arts, English, education, social science, or international relations is required.

Evaluations : “This may be tested”

LANGUAGE :  Level 4 English, French, and Arabic are required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES :  Multi-tasking, time management, EN. FR and AR fluency, technology (internet, social media, Microsoft Office), ability to interact with all levels within a mission and in the host culture.
