Background and purpose of the assignment  :

Under the supervision of the Country Director, the Country Data Coordinator will be responsible for leading on the strategy and implementation of data consolidation and visualization projects in Burundi country office.

Accountabilities/Responsabilities :

  1. Work closely with Country Office data owners and stakeholder to identify data gaps and data visualization needs for country operations
  2. Identify new high-value datasets in the country office (such as data relevant at local levels) for inclusion in the data initiative and associated tools.
  3. Liaise with the Regional Data Coordinator to promote and facilitate the use of corporate data systems and business intelligence tools at the Country level.
  4. Educate and inform internal and external audiences about the various tools and resources related to data in WFP.
  5. Work with Regional Data Coordinator to lead the rollout and adoption of Tableau as the business intelligence and data visualization solution standard in the Country Office.
  6. Champion and facilitate the adoption of corporate platforms and processes around data integration to foster a culture of data-driven decision-making within the Country Office.
  7.  Promote Data Literacy and storytelling via training program for data collection, Tableau and data visualization, and data integration projects based on country-office needs
  8. Use project management skills to ensure that relevant teams and individuals are consulted and involved in decision making at key points and that all decisions made are clearly documented and communicated at Country Office Level.
  9. Report progress and issues to the Country Director and share with the Regional data coordinator, the Digital Transformation Unit Hub, CO relevant heads of units and Deputy Country Director

Deliverables at the end of the role conctat :

  1. Establishment and coordination of a country-level Data Working Group.
  2. Delivery of Data Mapping to identify demand and address critical issues around adoption of tools, data integration and local capacity.
  3. An increased level of awareness, data literacy and skills in data visualization, and specifically the use of Tableau at the country office, demonstrated by the number of workshops and trainings delivered, with a majority of them scoring over 80% in positive feedback from participants.
  4. Increased number of visits (+10%) from the country office to corporate data platforms and dashboards.
  5. At least one data visualization, data use success story, or use case of Tableau for data visualizations and decision making shared by the country office for each month of contract on WFPgo, WFP analytics community, or other WFP internal communications platforms.
  6. Monthly reports on existing needs/ data gaps at country office level to the Regional Data Coordinator
  7. Increased awareness around the data agenda among country office senior management (heads of units, CD, DCD).

Qualificatios & experience requied :

Education :

Advanced University Degree in Business Administrations, Data Management, Statistics, Marketing, Communications, Information Management other relevant discipline.

Experience :

3 years or more of relevant progressive work experience in information management, information systems, web management, data management, GIS mapping, data visualization or project management.

Languages :

Fluency (level C) in English language and intermediate knowledge (level B) in French required. Other official UN/WFP language: Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish may be an asset.
