IRC has worked in Liberia since 1996 and is one of the largest humanitarian actors in the country.

 The IRC has worked in partnership with the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection (MOGCSP), the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Crimes Unit to serve   as allies to women and girls and create safer communities for all.

Job Overview :

The Case Management Officer is responsible for providing survivor-centered case management services and psychosocial support to survivors of gender-based violence, women, and girls through girl Shine and  Women Rise activities in Montserrado, Nimba and Lofa Counties. The Officer will supervise and provide support to community-level groups and implementing partner, community case workers, to ensure quality services are provided to individuals seeking GBV services.

 The successful candidate will document GBV cases, compile incident data, support adolescent girl groups, networks girls’ groups and women Rise groups in the five One Stop Center catchment communities, as well as participate in awareness raising activities. S/he will work with other GBV-focused implementing stakeholders. The Officer is required to adhere to the IRC GBV case management guidelines and international GBV case management standards. In addition, s/he will oversee the implementation of all response activities at the community level and serve as liaisons between IRC and the community.

Specific Responsibilities :

 Awareness raising & Group Meetings :

  • The staff with support partners to develop messages on the types of services available to survivors of GBV, where these services are available, how communities can support survivors to access services, and the consequences of GBV and the benefits of seeking care and support ;
  • Support partners deliver messages about GBV services, etc., on a daily basis, using a variety of context-appropriate methods ;
  • Work with girl groups to develop messages targeted at adolescent girls ;
  • Organize groups, educational and social activities, and holding regular girl group meetings ;
  • Conduct psychosocial support activities in One Stop Center catchment communities ;
  • Support routine project monitoring, and process and impact evaluation activities as requested by the Senior Response Officer ;
  • Adhere to GBV guiding principles throughout all GBV outreach interventions, ensuring confidentiality of survivors and respect for their wishes and decisions.

 Access to services :

  • Conduct regular support and capacity building visits to target implementing partners providing basic GBV case management services ;
  • Contribute to the development of training materials and collaborate with partners and mentors who will facilitate adolescent girl and Women Rise activities ;
  • Provide technical support to  partners, including psychosocial and awareness-raising on matters related to medical referrals for survivors of sexual violence and ensure that they provide the right information to GBV survivors, women and girls ;
  • Participate in regular staff and partner coordination meetings ;
  • Support the collection of information needed for M&E activities.

 Reporting :

  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly work plans, updates, and reports in a timely manner, and incorporate supervisor feedback as requested ;
  • Ensure that all relevant financial documentation is accurately completed and submitted, in line with IRC policies and procedures.

Others : Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop IRC programs.

Profil :

  • University Degree in Sociology, Education, Development Studies, Gender, or related field required ;
  • Certificate in Psychosocial Counselling, Social Work, or other related field, desirable ;
  • Comfortable with computers, able to use Word and Excel ;
  • Clear understanding of gender, human rights, and issues surrounding violence against women and girls ;
  • Experience in community outreach, sensitization, and mobilization ;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills ;
  • Fluency in reading and writing English ;
  • Clear understanding of and interest in the wellbeing of women and girls, and supporting their healing after the experience of violence ;
  • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients ;
  • Positive and professional attitude, including ability to lead and work well in a team setting.
