About MAG:

MAG saves lives and builds futures by working with others to reclaim land contaminated with the debris of conflict, to reduce the daily risk of death or injury for civilians, and to create safe and secure conditions for development. MAG shared the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize as a founding member of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines for our work to ban landmines. Our vision is a safe and secure future for men, women and children affected by armed violence and conflict.

About the Chad programme:

Following nearly 30 years of conflict, large areas of Chad remain affected by mines and the explosive remnants of war. MAG worked in Chad from 2006 to 2013, aiming to improve the living conditions of communities affected by these items, so they can raise their families and pursue their livelihoods in a safe and secure environment, free from fear of death or injury. We returned to Chad in late 2014 and re-opened our programme, working to improve the management of arms and ammunition alongside our Humanitarian Mine action work.

Subject to successful bid, the programme is planning to begin a new 4 year project and are working to expand the in country team to support the work in both the Lake and Tibesti Region.

About the role:

Reporting to the Country Director, the Logistics Manager will ensure that all procurement and logistics activity is carried out in line with MAG policies and procedures, and donor requirements, whilst maintaining appropriate controls and accountability and ensuring best value for MAG. The Logistics Manager will play a key role in the fleet management of the programme, as well as compliance and application of the programme security plan of MAG assets and resources. The role will have responsibility for recruiting, training and developing the national logistics team and ensuring the smooth running of MAG operational bases. Based in Ndjamena but will be expected to travel to other locations within the programme as required.

About you:

The successful candidate will need experience working overseas in international aid or development, ideally in a conflict/post conflict environment. You will also need to demonstrate prior experience in procurement, logistics, supply chain, asset and vehicle fleet management and hold a relevant logistician qualification. It would be beneficial to have previous experience of working in a developing country, preferably within an insecure environment and an understanding of the constraints this imposes on supply chain management. You will need fluent French language skills, with a good level of written and spoken English being beneficial.
