Description :

We are looking for a highly qualified Country Director (CD) who would like to further develop and strengthen our country operations in Cameroon.

NRC started operations in Cameroon in April 2017 to respond to the humanitarian crisis that affects this country and has continued to expand into the worst affected and hard to reach areas .

He therefore runs operations in the Extreme North and more recently in the south and North West regions of Cameroon implementing Education, Food Security, WASH, Shelter and ICLA.

The CO has been expanding steadily the past one year and the team currently consists of around 80 national staff members.

The Country Director has the overall responsibility for the country operation, is a permanent member of the Central and West Africa (CWA) Management Group, and reports to the Regional Director of CWA.

The Country Director is overall responsible for :

  • National representation and coordination ;
  • Development and execution of country strategy ;
  • All in-country activities, personnel and the Country Management Group (CMG) ;
  • Safety and security of all staff ;
  • Provide vision, promote ideas, gain agreement and act as a role model ;
  • Analyse the political and humanitarian context and make the NRC program relevant to the context in CAMEROON ;
  • Responsible for all NRC advocacy efforts in the country/region and ensure that contributions are made to NRC global advocacy efforts ;
  • Motivate and coach staff in order to create effective teams, with particular attention to ensuring an efficient Country Management Group ;
  • Be a proactive member of the Regional Management Group, promote collaboration with other COs and the Regional office and contribute to the development of the Central and West Africa Region as a whole.

Expériences / Formation du candidat

  • Minimum 5 years experience from working as a Senior Manager/Country Director in humanitarian/recovery context ;
  • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts ;
  • Documented/proven results related to the position’s responsibilities ;
  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile ;
  • Fluency in French and English, both written and verbal ;
  • Valid driver’s license ;
  • Knowledge from the specific contexts of CAMEROON ;
  • Experience from advocacy work.

Salaire / Indemnité :

  • Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s general terms of employments and free housing of moderate standard ;
  • Level: Grade 12 in NRC’s grade structure ;
  • Duty station CAMEROON: Yaounde, with some travel to the field ;
  • Approved health certificate will be requested before contract start according to NRC’s health check internal process.
