We are currently recruiting a Protection ProjectManager in Mali.

NRC has operated in Mali since 2013. From our four field offices in Mali, Gao, Timbuktu, Mopti, and Kidal, NRC strives to meet the basic needs of people affected by violence and displacement. We provide education, shelter, food security, and give people legal assistance. We also have a dedicated emergency response mechanism.

The Protection Project Manager (PPM) will be responsible to oversee the quality implementation of the NRC protection programme in Mali, as well as capacity building to the staff and support and collaboration with the Protection Cluster co-lead. The PPM will mainly oversee the Rapid Protection Assessment component of the Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM) project, tools and reporting, the referral system and the multisector response based on community protection rapid assessment.
He/she will also lead on the identification, analysis and succinct reporting of protection trends and issues of concern to feed into protection sector strategy development and Protection Cluster protection monitoring, NRC programming as well as other relevant humanitarian coordination fora.
The PPM will also contribute to the continued development of the protection sector, including drafting proposals and budgets, under the guidance of the Head of Programme, and in close collaboration with other technical sector leads.

The Protection Project Manager reports to the Area Manager.

Job description :

  • Line management for Protection project team ;
  • Compliance and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures ;
  • Responsible for ensuring programme support to integrated programme, coordination and technical quality in Area office ;
  • Provide area specific input relevant for Protection strategies ;
  • Compliance to donor standards, and grant management and regular reporting to donor in Area ;
  • Identify funding opportunities and develop funding strategy and forecasts ;
  • Responsible for grants management and BPO allocations in Area ;
  • Ensure compliance with contractual commitments and extracting and implementing key learnings from project implementation ;
  • Coordinate new emergency response in Area, and approve existing ;
  • Ensure capacity building of all technical staff.

Expériences / Formation du candidat :

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience from a management position in protection programme ;
  • Experience in emergency protection response, as RRM (Rapid Response Mechanism) ;
  • Experience in community based protection programming ;
  • Experience in external coordination ;
  • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts in a humanitarian context ;
  • Strong experience in protection monitoring and referral systems set-up and follow-up ;
  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile ;
  • Knowledge of the context in Mali.

Langues parlées :

Fluency in French and English, both written and verbal.
