Education Coordinator  Sudan Kosti (National Position)

NRC resumed operations in Sudan in 2020, providing humanitarian assistance, protection, and durable solutions. Our country programme integrates all of NRC’s six core competencies (camp management, education, ICLA, livelihoods, shelter, and WASH), and provides a rapid response capacity (including for the recent refugee emergency in eastern Sudan), and thematic capacities for cash and markets-based approaches, advocacy, digital modes of assistance, and co-leading various technical and strategic coordination platforms.

The purpose of the Education Coordinator position is to implement delegated Education project portfolio activities. The following is a brief description of the role.

 

Generic responsibilities (max 10)

These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work- and Professional Development Plan :

  1. Line management of Education project field staff ;
  2. Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures and awareness of NRC global and regional strategies ;
  3. Contribute to national Education strategy development, project proposals and provide input on needs and gaps; consider where appropriate the role of cash-based interventions and market-based programmes ;
  4. Manage and implement delegated portfolio of Education projects (activities, budget and project documentation) as delegated from the PDM in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements, and ensure high technical quality ;
  5. Provide regular progress reports to PDM         ;
  6. Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and asses new and better ways to assist ;
  7. Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the activities ;
  8. Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills ;
  9. Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders ;
  10. Promote the rights of refugees, IDPs & returnees in line with the advocacy strategy.

Specific responsibilities (Refer attached JD)

 

Our Ideal Candidate :

We are looking for a university graduate of education management or related field, with a minimum of 4 years’ previous experience in the field of education.

Experience working in complex and volatile contexts, in particular in Sudan.  Technical education management expertise relevant to the role. Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.  Fluency in English and Arabic both written and verbal.

We are particularly looking for a positive individual with strong communication skills, who can build trust and confidently navigate both internally and externally at different levels.

In this position you will join highly motivated and expert staff who are making a difference to the most vulnerable people.

  • Duty station: Kosti ;
  • Travel: 70%.
