The Opportunity :

The Global Grants portfolio of around €300 million (of the total €800 million operation) comprise grants from governmental and international multilateral bodies, Foundation, corporates or private donors. The Grants Finance team maintains the global grants system, delivers monthly, quarterly and year end grants reports and provides advice to all parts of Plan International regarding financial grants management through the financial systems, enabling effective financial management of Plan International’s global grant portfolio.

You will co-ordinate a network of grants finance specialists in country and regional offices and work together to ensure appropriate – and donor compliant – financial management of the grants.

  • Provide guidance, training and interpretation on our financial policies and processes regarding grants finance throughout our offices to enable effective use of financial systems for accounting, budgeting and forecasting ;
  • Work with a network of Grants Finance Specialists throughout our offices to ensure knowledge and expertise is cascaded down ;
  • Support Grants Finance Controller in maintaining finance procedures related to grants accounting and the Finance System Specialist in maintaining guidance and training tools; providing the Specialists with testing of grants finance related functionality in the finance system ;
  • Respond appropriately to queries identified during monitoring meetings and originating from the Global Helpdesk (grants accounting functional calls) ;
  • Support the quarter and year end processes for grants financial management.

The Person :

Ideally, we would like you to have :  

  • Previous, relevant accounting experience that includes exposure to financial systems, with demonstrable experience of advising and training others to enable their effective use for accounting, budgeting and forecasting ;
  • Advanced fluency with complex financial systems / ERP, Excel and multi-currency accounting packages. Knowledge and experience in using SAP is highly desirable ;
  • Recognized Accounting qualification or equivalent (part qualified / full would be beneficial) ;
  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills; able to assess complex problems effectively and provide attractive and workable solutions in differing environments ;
  • Outstanding communication skills; able to deliver insightful, engaging and compelling ideas and technical information to non-technical audiences ;
  •  Spanish and French language skills would be advantageous .

Salary : up to £36,000 depending on experience
Grade : 3
