QC has been maintaining active present in Somali since 2007 through its field office in Mogadishu. It has a portfolio of programs focusing on both humanitarian and development sectors. Qatar Charity Somalia Program seeks to recruit a Medical Officer in Burhakabo. The Medical Officer is important in strengthening and ensuring quality health service delivery in Burhakabo district.

 

Roles and Responsibilities :

Reporting to the Medical Coordinator, the Medical Officer is responsible for the provision of high quality clinical service report :

  1. He/she will diagnose and manage common and emergency surgical, obstetric, and gynecological, pediatric and medical conditions and refer those outside his or her skills ;
  2. He/she will be available, including after hours, to physically review patient, attend to emergency surgeries including Caesarean Sections as required ;
  3. Prepare and consolidate monthly health activities in the center and on timely share with the senior management ;
  4. Coordinate and collaborate MoH officials and other partners in the ground on primary health promotion activities ;
  5. He/she will carry out daily ward rounds to review patient progress and care ;
  6. He/she will arrange and lead, regularly all clinical and administrative meetings and ensure all data and information is collected, transmitted and utilized to benefit the patient and service providers ;
  7. He/she will ensure that the essential equipment and supplies required for good patient care are available, managed well and maintained in good condition ;
  8. He/she will perform any other duties as requested by his/her line manager.

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Medicine / Surgery.

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Qualified Medical Doctor with CEMOC surgical skills :
  • Minimum 3 years experience in working in health programs in hardship areas ;
  • Ability to work with team and motivate staff to achieve program results ;
  • Strong problem solving skills, analytical skills, ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision and good communication skills ;
  • Flexible and ability to work additional hours to ensure that the required results are delivered ;
  • High reliability, objectivity and honesty ;
  • Computer literate ;
  • Have professional skill on reporting and consolidation of health data.
