The Role:

The Learning & Development Specialist holds responsibility for supporting the diverse learning requirements and ensuring compliant training programs are delivered within Network Operations. This includes induction training, recurrence training, changes in operational procedures / systems and the introduction of new learning for operational and commercial initiatives.

This will be achieved by building effective relationships with your key internal and external customers to manage the design and development of innovative and effective learning & development solutions as well as maintain a range of product, process and soft skill learning programs which meet the needs of Network Operations.

To be successful in this role, you will be ‘determined to deliver’ and partner with the Network Operations departments to deliver learning programs which are themed to reflect the Virgin Australia brand, values, and company objectives across their creation, delivery, and administration

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Be accountable for the allocation and utilisation of any learning budget for Network Operations
  • Ensure any learning and development programs that are developed are cost effective whilst aligned with best practice
  • Identify and realise learning and development cost efficiencies
  • Embed a culture of safety within Network Operations through learning and development programs.
  • Develop a learning & development strategy that is designed to deliver optimum learning
  • Oversee development and amendment of Network Operations training programs
  • Carry out research to determine appropriate and necessary content for learning programs
  • Be accountable for the development of learning programs across Network Operations
  • Source and create modules that enhance learning and development objectives
  • Ensure provision of accurate & timely reporting to key stakeholders
  • Ensure key business initiatives & projects are accommodated in learning delivery

 

What you need to be successful:

  • Knowledge of best practice learning design and application within an Operational environment
  • Understanding of training processes, theories and methodologies
  • Certificate IV in training and assessment or equivalent industry qualification
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Applications
  • Excellent organisational, analytical and decision-making skills
  • Highly developed planning and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with internal and external customers
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills within all levels of the organisation
  • Experience in performance management for high quality outcomes
  • Experience in the development of Computer Based Training (CBT), Learning Management System and other e-learning capabilities
