  1. The African Development Bank seeks expressions of interest from suitably qualified individual consultants to provide services to the AfDB relating to the holding of PIFD off-site Retreat. The PIFD Retreat will take place in Abidjan over two days (4- 5th July 2019) and will comprise a series of senior management interventions, guest speakers, panel discussions, and team-building exercises.
  2. The Retreat agenda will be a relatively dense programme. Key sessions will include an update on Departmental performance and forward-looking priorities, an interactive session involving important internal colleagues from different Departments, presentations by senior management, and interventions by guest speakers. Lastly, the Retreat will close with a structured Team-Building session— based around a participative and creative team exercise, led by professional trainers. The primary aims of the retreat are transversal learning, team-building and brainstorming on challenges and opportunities in delivering PIFD’s Work Program. PIFD staff will be responsible for all logistics associated with booking of the venue, organisation of amenities including coffee breaks, meals, and evening entertainment.The services to be provided under the Assignment include: Assisting PIFD team members in thinking through and refining elements of the Retreat agenda, including the organisation and sequencing of sessions and identification of outside speakers.
  • Performing in full the role of sole Moderator for all scheduled sessions over two days: introducing speakers and distinct modules, facilitating and prompting dialogue from panels, and drawing questions and commentary from panelists and the audience.
  • Aiding PIFD Director and event organisers to secure full engagement from participants to make the event a success.
  • Executing a participative, guided Team-Building exercise.
  • Performing in full the role of Rapporteur, preparing an annotated written record of all sessions, speeches and interventions, as well as key conclusions drawn by the Moderator and/or participants
  • Preparing a Summary Retreat Report that follows the structure of the Retreat agenda, incorporating the Rapporteur’s written notes, to form an comprehensive, structured record of the event’s discussions and conclusions
  • Successful execution of this contract will require:
  • A minimum of 2 senior staff person-days (2 senior staff x 12 day) for assisting PIFD with preparation of the event and completing the following tasks: Moderator / Rapporteur / Summary Retreat Report as well as the Team Building exercise
  1. The Financial Sector Development Department hereby invites suitably qualified individual consultants Interested Consultants are required to provide information on their qualifications and experience demonstrating their ability to undertake this Assignment (CV, experience in similar assignments, etc.).
  2. The eligibility criteria, the establishment of a short list and the selection procedure shall be in conformity with the Bank’s Rules and Procedure for the Use of Consultants under projects financed by the Bank Group, May 2008 Edition, revised on July 2012 available on the Bank Website at http://www.afdb.org. Please, note that interest expressed by a Consultant does not imply any obligation on the part of the Bank to include him/her in the shortlist.
  3. This assignment will have an initial duration of 12 Days.
  • The Consultant’s team will arrive in Abidjan the day before the beginning of the Retreat on 3rd July 2019
  • The Retreat will be held in Abidjan, scheduled for two full days: 4-5th July 2019
  • The draft Summary Retreat Report, for review by PIFD staff, will be due mid-July
  • A final Summary Retreat Report, incorporating any PIFD comments, will be due end of July
