Seefar is looking for a communications consultant to help manage and implement a migration communications campaign in Mali and Niger. This is a new project and you will be closely involved in the start-up and implementation of the campaign. This is a part-time position for two days a week until the end of the year. You can live wherever you like. You will need to be available to start immediately to be considered for the role, and to be fluent in written and spoken French and English.

Responsibilities

The following are the primary responsibilities of the role.

  • In collaboration with program colleagues, overseeing the implementation of the project, ensuring it meets donor expectations
  • Overseeing and guiding two local communication staff based in Mali and Niger, and building their capacity, including through targeted training
  • Drafting key messages for the campaign
  • Editing monthly insight reports for the donor, and ensuring these communicate results and progress
  • Developing and implementing local media and PR strategies
  • Drafting and posting social media posts and updates
  • Drafting and editing online content produced by local staff in French and posting this on campaign channels
  • Tracking project outputs, including social media analytics, and adapting strategies and tactics as needed to ensure delivery of these outputs
  • Attending weekly project team meetings
  • Based on project experience, developing and drafting best practice documents that can be used when implementing similar migration communication campaigns
  • Other tasks as required

An Excellent Candidate

To excel in this role, you will have the following experience and capacities:

  • A relevant undergraduate degree as a minimum
  • At least eight years of experience working in strategic communications
  • Experience of, or exposure to, developing and implementing behaviour change and/or awareness campaigns
  • Experience in web and social media management and content development
  • Exceptional English and French writing skills with the ability to write for a variety of different platforms and audiences
  • Effective prioritisation skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail
