Context :

SOS Children’s Villages International is the umbrella organisation for the global federation of SOS Children’s Villages. As a non-governmental social development organisation we support children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education, health and emergency relief, and we advocate for the rights of children and young people, in alliance with a great diversity of partners. We work in 136 countries and territories, reaching over one million children, young people, families and caregivers each year. To support us with this important responsibility we are now looking for committed:

Regional Youth Can! Coordinator (f/m).

International Office WCNA (West, Central and North Africa) & ESAF (Eastern and Southern African).

 

Tasks and Responsibilities :

Under the leadership of the Programme Development Director IOR WCNA the Regional Youth Can! Coordinator :

  • Acts as the focal point for coordination of YouthCan! projects at regional level ;
  • Supports and advises the National Coordinators of Youth Development and / or YouthCan! to establish, design, launch and successfully implement YouthCan! employability projects at the national level, through partnerships ;
  • Supports existing YouthCan! countries in the further development and strengthening of the project and local partnerships ;
  • Collects and shares national successes and promote peer to peer learning ;
  • Works directly with the global YouthCan! team to align planning between MA (Member Associations), IOR (International Office Regions) and global partners ;
  • Ensures implementation of M&E (Monitoring & Evaluation) standards for reporting and communication purposes ;
  • Works closely with Regional and National FD (Fund Development) teams to promote and strengthen existing and new partnerships that can support the project and its scale ;
  • Advises on stewarding relationships with current YouthCan! partners ;
  • Advises on regional implementation of YouthCan! and work closely with PD (Programme Development) and FD advisors to select new countries to join the initiative ;
  • Finds opportunities to showcase Youthcan! programmes in internal and external communication fora ;
  • Participates in global and regional youth employability planning and the YouthCan! programme to align the objectives between the Member Association, Regional Office, International Office and global partners.

 

Requirements :

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in project coordination in a related field (youth programmes, development, child-care, employability and youth empowerment) ;
  • Excellent networking and service orientation: strong networking skills and a demonstrated ability to liaise, build relationships and to guide and support national staff according to their needs ;
  • Availability to travel to the MAs she/he will be supporting (30% travel time) ;
  • Motivation, accountability and commitment to the topic of youth employability in Africa ;
  • Good knowledge of youth employability situation and needs in Africa ;
  • Fundraising experience a plus in particular working with the private sector ;
  • Strong organisational skills ;
  • Proven ability to work independently, virtually and cross-functionally ;
  • Experience in building capacity, monitoring and cooperating with partners ;
  • A very good command of both written and spoken French and English ;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
