Civil Substation Construction Manager – Sub Saharan Africa
On behalf of a leader in the international Transmission and Distribution market, I am currently seeking a Civil Construction Manager for a project in Sub-Saharan Africa for a High Voltage Substation Project.
Role
*Oversee, manage and take responsibility for the completion of the high voltage substation civil works for the project.
*Liaison and coordination with the construction, engineering and the wider project teams (consents, land, stakeholder management) to ensure timely delivery and quality of submissions according to the needs of the project.
*Ensuring that quality, health, safety and environmental requirements are met.
*Ensuring delivery of the ONSS Civil and Enabling works on time and within budget.
*Liaison with onshore project management, engineering, construction and consents teams.
*Manage the project contracts and their suppliers/sub-contractors.
*Track expenditure and technical performance and intervene where this does not meet requirements.
*Ensure deliverables are delivered in accordance with the programme and to the required standard.
*Hold regular meetings with wider team to track progress.
*Identify and manage interfaces between the ONSS Civil and Enabling works and the rest of the project and other relevant bodies (such as external suppliers and contractors)
*Monitor and act to mitigate these risks where possible.
*Participate in and/or oversee reporting and forecasting ensuring that it is delivered as required to the project.
*Represent the client’s Civil needs in project meetings.
Requirements
*15+ years of experience in managing civil works for electrical substion/power plant construction projects
*Contract management including variations and claims
*Experience in major sub saharan African construction projects
*Knowledge of specification, design, maintenance, construction and commissioning of either civil, electrical or substation works
*Detailed understanding of 3rd party and land agreements, consent planning and/or discharge of conditions
*Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation related to construction
*Proven ability to lead and work in a team and contractor’s environment
