The African Development Bank hereby invites Individual Consultants to indicate their interest in the following Assignment : SAP Solution Architect.

The Bank is embarking on the transformation of its current SAP platform to properly support the new Business Delivery Model and achievement of its High priorities. In this regard, the Bank is seeking the services of a Solution architect who will be fully responsible for the overall architecture of the new SAP platform. He/ She will act as technical lead, overseeing all the development activities of the solution taking into consideration the project objectives mainly quality and integration.

Because the mission requires the involvement of the incumbent from start to finish of the project, it is essential and imperative to understand all aspects of the desired system/solution, from a technical point of view. Furthermore, the solution architect should provide the necessary leadership skills to make sure the developers are fully motivated for successful delivery.

The assignment will require strong and sound expert in all phases of the software development life cycle with extensive knowledge of SAP environment.

The consultant’s duties will include the following activities :

  • Work directly with the PMO and the SAP Project Director to ensure soundness of solutions proposed by SAP ;
  • Interact with the SAP Implementation Architect on behalf of the Bank ;
  • Generate convincing and substantiated technology and architecture recommendations ;
  • Identify and highlight key integration points with third party systems ;
  • Perform problem analysis (identify root causes, outline resolution options, and recommend appropriate actions to resolve problems) ;
  • Document all solution architecture design and analysis work ;
  • Work closely with the Program Management Office (PMO) to ensure the execution of plans corresponds with what is being promised ;
  • Ensure knowledge transfer to AfDB technical team through adequate documentation and training ;
  • Ability to deliver work an on-Premise or remotely to deliver quality results.

 

Required skills and qualifications :

  • At least Master/Engineering degree in computer science, system analysis or a related filed ;
  • At least 12 years’ working experience with SAP suite ;
  • At least two implementations on SAP HANA as Architect ;
  • Hands on SAP HANA data structure and model ;
  • Deep understanding of SAP products and technologies, across multiple ‘end-to-end’ SAP solution landscapes ;
  • Very conversant with SAP environment ;
  • Understanding of agile methods and processes, and capability of supporting agile project teams by providing advice and guidance on opportunities, impact and risks, taking account of technical and architectural debt ;
  • Understand technology trends and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business and operating models ;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation ;
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills ;
  • Knowledge of all components of an enterprise technical architecture ;
  • Excellent understanding of application development methodologies and infrastructure ;
  • Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies ;
  • Proven ability to work well with others ;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

Location

The work will be mainly carried in remotely.

Onsite work, when required, will take place at the Bank’s Headquarters in ABIDJAN, Cote d’Ivoire.

The Corporate Information Technology Services Department (CHIS) invites Individual Consultants to indicate their interest in providing the above-described services. Interested Consultants shall provide information on their qualifications and experience demonstrating their ability to undertake this Assignment (CV, reference to similar services, experience in similar assignments, etc.).

The eligibility criteria, the establishment of a short list and the selection procedures shall be in conformity with the Bank’s procedures for the acquisition of consulting services funded by the administrative or capital expenditure. Please, note that interest expressed by a Consultant does not imply any obligation on the part of the Bank to include him/her in the shortlist.

The estimated duration of services is 12 months and the estimated starting date is 02 January 2019.

Establishment of the short list

A shortlist of three to six individual consultants will be established at the end the request of expressions of interest. The consultants will be judged on the following criteria on the basis of their updated resume.
