The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) is seeking a Security Analyst to assist  with implementation, upgrades, or monitoring security measures that protect computer networks and information.  The Security Analyst ensures appropriate security controls are in place that will safeguard digital files and vital electronic infrastructure. This position responds to alerts that are potential computer security breaches and viruses.  Using critical analysis and problem solving skills, the Security Analyst works to resolve issues and escalates concerns as needed. This position does not have direct reports.

 

Responsibilities :

  • Investigate and resolve security alerts from various security systems such as SIEMs ;
  • Monitor and maintain security systems including log management, security information & event management (SIEM) tools ;
  • Collaborate with other engineers in administering network and security services ;
  • Support remote locations’ security issues (field offices) ;
  • Manage Endpoint Security Systems (Bit9, Carbon Black, Crowdstrike) ;
  • Apply security updates to servers, databases and web applications ;
  • Participate in collaboration activities with help desk support for addressing security incidents ;
  • Identify emerging threats and implement new preventative and detective controls based on risks ;
  • Assist with security assessments ;
  • Confer with users to discuss issues and resolves malware issues and other related security matters ;
  • Train NDI staff on cybersecurity ;
  • Assist with providing guidance and mentorship to on-the-ground partner organizations NDI has provided with cybersecurity assessment or training.

 

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from accredited university or college; the equivalent combination of education/certifications and experience in lieu of degree ;
  • 2 years experience as a systems administrator and/or desktop support ;
  • Proficient with administering Windows Clients ;
  • Proficient in administering networks ;
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills ;
  • Must be willing to follow and refine formal IT processes & procedures ;
  • Experience with handling multiple tasks and working within a matrix business environment ;
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills with the ability to present and communicate technical information ;
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and timeframes.

 

Software knowledge :

  • Operating system software — Linux, Microsoft Windows, MAC OS ;
  • Endpoint Protection Software – Crowdstrike, Carbonblack and Trend Micro ;
  • Google G-Suite ;
  • Microsoft Office-Mobile Devices Management.

 

Physical Demands/Work Environment :

This job operates in an office setting in an open plan environment and may require sitting for long periods of time.  The open plan environment consists of larger open spaces with less walls, offices or rooms.  There can be periods of activity and talking amongst other employees that can be seen or heard more frequently in an open plan environment.

This role has regular uses of office equipment such as computers, smartphones, copiers, and scanners which involves close visual activity, fingering, grasping, and reaching.  This is largely a sedentary role with heavy use of cognitive skills.  At times, this position may have activities that would require the ability to lift or carry up to 25 lbs along with frequently bend, twisting, or squatting.

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work :

This is a 40 hour per week full-time position. Core hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m however there may be flexibility on start and end time depending on department needs. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

 

Travel :

There is up to 10% international travel associated with this role. There may be local travel depending on events and donor activities.
