The National Roster Talent Pool  is an entry point for a professional national  career with WFP. WFP is looking to build a pool of highly qualified and dynamic talents interested in working with WFP , when the need arises.

A National Roster member is placed on the pool for a period up to 1 year  during which he/ she is considered with priority each time WFP has a specific need for a Fixed Term National Professional staff member in his/her functional area and level.

 

Organizational context :

These jobs are found in Country Offices (COs), Regional Bureaux (RBs), and Headquarters (HQ), and typically report to a more senior HR Officer, Regional/Country Director or the designate.
Job holders operate with minimal supervision, and provide guidance to junior staff to ensure that operational and project objectives are achieved. They are heavily involved in day–to-day activities and analytical work. Job holders provide advice on low complex issues, applying HR rules, regulations and expertise in making determinations and recommendations across a range of activities.

 

Job purpose :

To deliver a professional, client-focused HR services, partnering with managers to implement HR solutions in line with WFP corporate priorities.

 

Standard minimum qualifications :

Education : Advanced university degree in Human Resource Management, Public or Business Administration, Industrial Psychology or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience or trainings/courses.
Experience : Typically three or more years of postgraduate professional experience in Human Resources with an interest in international humanitarian development.

 

Knowledge & Skills :

  • Broad or specialised knowledge of HR best practices, techniques and processes with some understanding of the basic theoretical background ;
  • Ability to supervise and support more junior and/or less experienced members of the team ;
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision ;
  • Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions and recommend a course of action ;
  • Good communication skills required to give and receive information and work with a variety of individuals ;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients and provide client oriented service. Ability to identify client’s needs and match them to appropriate solutions ;
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly assimilate, UN/WFP specific processes and systems.

Language : International Professional: Fluency (level C) in English language. Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or WFP’s working language, Portuguese.

National Professional : Fluency (level C) in English language and the duty station’s language, if different.

 

Key accountabilities (not all-inclusive) : 

  • Support Regional Office and Country Offices in internalizing living and embedding the WFP inspirational values ;
  • Develop and implement an egagement roadmap incorporating creative initiatives to promote values of team cohesion  , enhance cross functional team working , open 2- way communication feedback ;
  • Implement high impact Global Staff Survey actions culture ;
  • In liasion with the culture and transformation work streams in the countries,  implement the actions to support realization of an enabling culture for Integrated Road Map roll out and implementation
    Support employee engagement improvement  efforts and conduct peridic benchmarking ;
  • To assist Country Offices to identify wellness elements required for succesful change process ;
  • Design and imlement a robust Learning and Development plan for the Regional Office leveraging available resources to build a learning culture ;
  • Be the focal point for capability for Regional Bureau Nairobi and in close liaison with the HQ team , develop a Learning calendar to be deployed across Regional Bureau ;
  • Identify Continous improvement opportunities in our processes and coordinate the implementation of approved plans. Focus on Recruitment and onboarding processes ;
  • Learning and Development ; Lead deployment of ne We Learn  , develop and Execute annual Learning plans.

 

Other specific job requirements :

  • Champion the utilization of We Learn through innovative and creative solutions that will foster a culture of organizational learning ;
  • Partner with talent liaison world wide to develop and implement a regional learning strategy , provide a context and enable glbal programs with ;
  • Certify and facilitate core offerings from our external partners and internally developed learning modules ;
  • Promote a learning culture within the HR team through sharing HR Knowledge Management and other creative methods ;
  • HR communications , Stakeholders  Management and Knowledge Managament.

Terms and conditions :

 This position is open to Kenya nationals only.

Selected candidates will be placed in the national roster  and may be contacted as the needs arise for fixed-term national positions in the  Regional Bureau in Nairobi

The National Roster membership will last 1 year.
