Key functions, accountabilities and related duties/tasks:

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

  • Support in the development and implementation of effective private sector fundraising strategies across channels, utilizing and maximizing a variety of fundraising techniques to drive new partnerships, as well as meet agreed targets and achieve net income.  This includes scoping and testing of new channels and initiatives as well as analyzing and evaluating individual fundraising opportunities with the objective of identifying new additional, sustainable high-volume income streams and diversifying partnerships development.
  • Support in promoting new partnerships and resource mobilization, working with UNICEF colleagues to identify partnership and resource mobilization needs and broker resource mobilization agreements to meet those needs. Receives and screens inquiries from potential collaborators and facilitates communication with appropriate UNICEF staff.
  • Support scanning and scouting external environment within designated partnership area for opportunities and risks and shares information in a timely fashion with relevant UNICEF staff. Help in providing strategic and programmatic support to the section chief and to senior management and other UNICEF staff in corporate engagement and interaction with assigned partners.
  • Contribute to enhancing PFP efficiency and effectiveness through implementation follow-on, including monitoring inputs, local conditions and resources, assistance and Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) programme implementation status.
  • Contribute to developing and maintaining deep knowledge and familiarity with current and prospective partners and relevant stakeholders, contributing to a database of key contacts and to UNICEF’s base of knowledge on partnership and resource mobilization.
  • Support in the development and implementation of an annual partnership engagement and resource mobilization work plan.
  • Contributes to the development of new partnership and resource mobilization practices and approaches by formulating recommendations for action based on on-going monitoring, analyzing current trends within designated partners and formulating recommendations for strategy approaches and partnerships development.
  • Work with UNICEF colleagues to identify the highest impact partnership ideas for priority prospects.
  • Liaise with UNICEF due diligence, communication and legal to ensure ethical screening and contracting is planned and undertaken effectively for prospects.
  • Contribute to strategies for engagement and the development of communications products to enhance UNICEF’s visibility and influence with existing and prospective partners and key stakeholders.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure the success of the team, including guiding, training, and coaching short-term staff, including interns and consultants, as needed.

The functions that the incumbent will carry out have a significant impact on the office planning and the image of the office.

As some functions will be carried out by the incumbent with a degree of independence in the organization of priorities and work methods, the incumbent is required to take pro-active initiatives in the application of guidelines and in deciding on some sensitive protocol matters. The type of functioning of this. Decisions involving a potential deviation from established regulations require consultation with and guidance from the supervisor.  Briefing of and coordination with partners shall be based on the agreed upon direction, conditions and objectives.

Recruitment Qualifications

Education:  A university degree in international development, public affairs, international relations, political science, communications or other related field

Experience:  At least three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience in external relations, liaison and/or any resource- mobilization related activities.

Language Requirements:  Fluency in Arabic and English is required.
