The Emergency Fundraising Unit based in UNICEF Geneva, supports and coordinates cross-organization initiatives on humanitarian crisis and sudden onset disasters by leading global efforts in maximizing funding opportunities and supports National Committees and PSFR Countries.

 

How can you make a difference?

The function will play a key role in strengthening and developing the necessary infrastructure for supporting the unit delivering on its objectives and it will act as one-stop-shop for collection and analysis of all relevant information from different stakeholders including HQ departments, National Committees and PSFR countries and make them available to support and promote evidence-based and informed decision making. The incumbent will also develop solid arm’s length professional relationships with units and departments in the organization to ensure knowledge management and sharing related to emergency fundraising are fully optimized.

  1. Knowledge management and knowledge sharing

  • Establish and coordinate processes for systematically identifying and capturing good practices, key learnings, case studies, challenges and opportunities related to emergency fundraising;
  • Develop a fully operational knowledge management system in which relevant information and knowledge are systematically acquired, continuously upgraded and disseminated throughout the network;
  • Identify the necessary steps to fill in the knowledge gaps around emergency fundraising practices and results and design solutions to efficiently and effectively service markets;
  • Collect information and support the team in the creation of solid background or any knowledge sharing initiative around emergency fundraising and emergency marketing;
  • Create a mechanism for capturing and documenting key successful fundraising operations/activities related to emergencies and work with other teams to package them into knowledge products for dissemination;
  • Ensure optimization of existing systems and tools to capture knowledge related to emergency fundraising;
  • Analyze business processes, gather documentation, lessons learned and incorporate into a repository that serves as a reference source.
  • Curate and disseminate relevant information to the network, i.e. regular e-newsletter or similar product to ensure the broader network is informed of progress and priorities related to emergency fundraising;
  1. Data analysis and reporting

  • Ensure qualitative and quantitative data related to fundraising performance for emergencies are systematically collected and accessible;
  • Ensure internal systems and tools allow team members to access live data related to funding gaps, funding status and funding priorities;
  • Curate regular reports to facilitate analysis and data driven decision making;

 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Master Degree in economics, marketing, statistics, social sciences or any related field;
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in knowledge management, knowledge sharing, and communication is required;
  • Extensive experience in using knowledge management tools an asset;
  • Previous experience in working with fundraising or marketing teams is required;
  • Previous experience working with UNICEF programs, humanitarian response an asset;
  • Capacity to work in team, under pressure and with tight deadlines;
  • Excellent presentation, communication and inter-personal skills;
  • Fluency in English is required, including excellent writing skills. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
