Supply Chain Specialist (Partnership and Reporting), P-3

 

For every child, commitment :

This position will report to the Manager, Field Results and Coordination Unit, and will be responsible for working across the Center to fulfill the internal and external reporting accountabilities and supporting both the Manger and Chief of the Center to maintain and strengthen donor and implementing partner relationships.

As part of the Supply Chain Strengthening Center, Field Results and Coordination Unit, the incumbent will be responsible for :

  1. Developing, managing, coordinating, networking, implementing and monitoring an advocacy and communication strategy, working closely with the Communications Unit to create products and activities to promote supply chain strengthening results within UNICEF as well as donors and public audiences, with the objective of promoting awareness, understanding, support and respect for national supply chain strengthening as a means of promoting child’s rights ;
  2. Deepen the organization’s collaboration with key stakeholders and provide an interface for environmental scanning, knowledge exchange, resource mobilization, and policy influence. S/He may also serve as a focal point and resource for colleagues on specific thematic areas of strategic relevance for partnership development. The key result is to ensure greater visibility for UNICEF and influence in support of its mission.

How can you make a difference?

 

Summary of key functions/accountabilities :

  1. Develop and implement a communication strategy : Produce a National Supply Chain Strengthening communication strategy and associated work plan with the aim of increasing awareness and action on national supply chain strengthening, strengthen political will in support of UNICEF’s mission and objectives, and enhance the organization’s credibility and brand among key partners ;
  2. Develop and maintain a ‘supply chains for health system strengthening’ learning collaborative with Programme Division, Immunization, Nutrition and Community Health teams.  Work closely with the GAVI Alliance to assess learning needs; define educational approaches; develop a workplan; collaborate with child health and development partners; utilize existing learning platforms; and monitor and report on progress.  This work should be clearly linked to the communication strategy ;
  3. Donor Reporting:  Provide leadership on meeting UNICEF Supply Division’s donor reporting accountabilities, working closely with Program and Public Partnership Divisions on the reporting on immunization supply chain (GAVI);  WHO/UNICEF Immunization Hub (Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation); Food For Peace (USAID); other donors; and input to UNICEF annual reports and other relevant internal and external reporting ;
  4. Policy Advocacy and Partnership Building:  Contributes to strategies for engagement and the development of communications products to enhance UNICEF’s visibility and influence with existing and prospective partners and key supply chain stakeholders by providing analysis of the current environment and trends and formulating recommendations for strategy approaches and message development. Works closely with UNICEF’s colleagues in Health, Education, Water and Sanitation to ensure that policy advocacy and outreach is strongly grounded in the experience and insights of the programs that UNICEF’s supports ;
  5. Act as a focal point for in-house knowledge management issues:  Support Supply Division’s communications team maintain technical content of UNICEF digital media; work with PD and other internal partners to align content; support the Supply Community on Yammer ,TechNet-21 and Sharepoint; prepare presentations; support the adoption of the Enterprise Project Management System; manage publication production; documentation of lessons learned and case studies ;
  6. Acts as focal point for identification and pursuit of opportunities for outreach, engagement, policy influence and collaboration, including on how to anticipate and respond to partners’ concerns and priorities, ensure that UNICEF’s interests, perspectives, and knowledge are taken into account in relevant policy and institutional processes, and ensure that they are fully aware of UNICEF’s perspectives, policies, priorities and capabilities. Contribute to the development and management of initiatives for high-level outreach, including for UNICEF’s Senior Management ;
  7. Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure the success of the team, including guiding, training, and coaching short-term staff, including interns and consultants, as needed.

 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have :

  • An advanced university degree in international development, public affairs, international relations, marketing, communications or other related field ;
  • At least five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience in external relations, liaison and/or any resource-mobilization and communications related activities, preferably in an international organization is required. Knowledge of supply chain issues an asset ;
  • Fluency in English is required with knowledge of another UN language, especially French, is considered as an asset.
