How can you make a difference?

The CAP section in UNICEF, both for its own programme deliverables and on behalf of other sections, has a need for high quality storytelling, editing and proofreading services in Portuguese and English.

Methodology and technical approach.

The consultant delivers human interest story/ies as well as other narrative elements and achievements such as data/financial information that tell the story of UNICEF Mozambique assisted-programmes, covering priority areas as described in specific case-by-case Terms of Reference (TOR) in a computer file addressed to UNICEF by email. Deliverables should be sent to UNICEF in MS Word document file. When the text is in English, the draft and final text edited and proofread should be with adherence to UNICEF Style Book (September 2008) when writing in English.

Activities and tasks.

To produce three different human stories on focusing on the role of religious leaders and faith based organizations during the recent rubella and measles campaign – which took place in the first semester of 2018

Deliverables and payments.

Payments will be processed upon acceptance of the corresponding deliverable and against an invoice that will reference the contract and deliverable numbers. Payments will be approved by the respective section chief.

Deliverable 1:

Delivery timeframe: by 30 September 2018

Deliverable/product(s): three human interest stories in Portuguese and English finalized and proof-read

Management and supervision.

The consultant will report directly to the Communication Specialist, in consultation with Communication for Development team in Maputo and Zambezia.

 

Qualifications and specialized knowledge.

 Relevant educational background, or proven experience in lieu of academic qualifications;

  • A proven record of excellent research, interview and writing skills for children and public in general;
  • Fluency in English and/or Portuguese languages is required;
  • Knowledge of Mozambican culture;
  • Familiarity with UNICEF programmes and development issues;
  • High level of creativity and initiative;
  • Previous experience in writing, editing and proofreading for similar purposes;
  • Work experience with UNICEF or another UN agency is an asset;
  • Ability to work with different teams, and deliver to deadlines.
