Purpose of the Consultancy :

Mobility is defined as “the planned movement of staff members from one position to another for the basic purpose of encouraging and stimulating the growth of the individual”. UNICEF’s Mobility Programme is a strategic tool used to identify internal talent in a timely manner and deploy skilled individuals with high levels of expertise where they are most needed. The purpose of the Mobility Programme is to fulfill evolving operational needs, promote professional development through international exposure, and provide staff with opportunities to acquire new skills and knowledge. In turn, the Mobility Programme reinforces a dynamic, global, and versatile organization that serves every child.

UNICEF’s Division of Human Resources, Mobility and Staffing Section, is initiating a User Experience Research project to better understand the User Experience of International Professional (IP) staff. The project centers around identifying the perceptions, motivations and concerns that International Professional staff face within the framework and expectations of the Mobility Programmes.

  1. Developing and conducting surveys, workshops,  interviews, focus groups and other types of data-gathering activities to understand the perception of the Mobility Programme by various stakeholders ;
  2. Analyzing the information gained to help the organization better understand perceptions (and pain points) that IP Staff and the business experience within the Mobility Programme ;
  3. Preparing and presenting recommendations to improve the design and execution of the Mobility Program ;
  4. Making recommendations to enhance the experience for both the employee and the organization.

 

Assignment Tasks and Expected Deliverables

  • Perform a review of the Mobility Programme, by collecting, organizing and synthesizing available information to gain a thorough understanding of the context, priority and value of the Mobility Programme at UNICEF.
    • Develop a comprehensive audit and analytics report demonstrating an understanding of the Mobility Programme and its role in within UNICEF.
  • Perform user research and collect quantitative and qualitative user data to improve the user experience by identifying the issues and potential topics for consideration of UNICEF’s Mobility Programme.
    • Segment staff who share similar perceptions and pain points into key user personas. Develop user stories, flow diagrams and experience maps to help the mobility team better empathize with users ;
    • Draft a comprehensive evaluation of the Mobility User Experience outlining the findings of the research performed ;
    • Report to include recommendations that will reshape and strengthen the user experience ;
  • Conduct field missions to evaluate the efficacy of the Mobility Programme, via the use of focus groups, workshops, surveys, and interviews with International Professionals (IP’s).
    • Prepare a zero draft of the User Experience (UX) identifying the pain points and perceptions of both IP staff and other key stakeholders ;
    • Deliver field mission reports on the evaluation of Mobility Programme, and findings obtained from focus groups, surveys and interviews with IP’s ;
    • Define the value proposition for the user ;
    • Prepare a comprehensive UX report that encapsulates key research findings, recommendations for areas of improvement as well as a prototype or activity diagram for a user-friendly Mobility Programme.
  • Benchmark mobility practices of other UN agencies and industries to recommend new standards or to improve UNICEFs mobility approach.
    • Provide summary of Mobility Benchmarking.
  • Assist Human Resources Specialist in any other assigned task as assigned including but not limited to partner with other stakeholders ongoing collaboration.

 

Qualifications of Successful Candidate

  • An Advanced University degree in UX Design, Marketing, Human Resources, Organizational Psychology/Behavior, Behavioral Economics, or relevant field ;
  • Plus, a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience ;
  • A University degree in relevant field plus a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant work experience maybe accepted in lieu of an Advanced University degree ;
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and analytical skills ;
  • UX Research experience required ;
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders.

Duration : 6 to 9 months

Location : New York or remote based

Remarks :

With the exception of US Citizens, G4 Visa and Green Card holders, should the selected candidate and his/her household members reside in the United States under a different visa, the consultant and his/her household members are required to change their visa status to G4, and the consultant’s household members (spouse) will require an Employment Authorization Card (EAD) to be able to work, even if he/she was authorized to work under the visa held prior to switching to G4.

At the time the contract is awarded, the selected candidate must have in place current health insurance coverage.
