Summary: The work schedule for this position is:

Full Time (40 hours per week)

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties :

The Maintenance Supervisor is a working supervisor that reports directly to the Building Engineer and provides first line supervision of four residential maintenance shop leaders. The incumbent provides overall scheduling and monitoring of the shop workers as they perform the operations, preventive maintenance and minor repairs of the residential units of Embassy Bamako. The incumbent also oversees the shops as they perform housing inspections of all leased and US government-owned units in the housing portfolio. On a project-by-project basis, the position also oversees the performance of technicians hired by the property owners of the leased houses.

Qualifications and Evaluations :

Requirements:

Experience :

5 years of progressively responsible experience, that includes 2 years of supervisory experience, in the maintenance of buildings including, but not limited to, carpentry, painting, millwork, masonry, door locks and hardware, drywall and plaster repairs, furniture repairs, and roofing is required.

Job knowledge : 

Specialized knowledge of preventive maintenance, facility repairs, building codes, electrical codes, plumbing codes, residential lease provisions, and local availability of repair parts is required. Knowledge of principles involved in supervising, counselling and coaching others is required.

Education Requirements :

Completion of high school (or host nation equivalent) is required. Completion of a vocational or trade school program in electro/mechanical systems and training in two or more other trades groups producing journeyman level skill in at least one of the trades group is required.

Evaluations :

LANGUAGE: Level III Good working knowledge speaking/reading/writing English “This may be tested”

Level IV (fluent) speaking/reading/writing French or Bambara “This may be tested”

Skills and abilities :  

Must be able to properly use the tools of the trade, power equipment such as drills, hand tools, measuring devices, reciprocating saws, welders, air compressors, scissor lifts, etc. Must be able to work at elevated heights on ladders, in a man-lift or bucket truck. Must possess computer skills, use email, calculator, mobile phone and other basic office equipment. Must possess a valid drivers’ license.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
