ExxonMobil recruits a Trading Application Analyst – Houston, TX, US

Job Role Summary :

The Trading Application Analyst is responsible for supporting key business applications and associated interfaces used globally by the Fuels, Lubes, and Chemical businesses.  These applications enable our business understand and manage risk in order to capitalize on commercial opportunities. The position will be located in Houston and work as part of the global support team on base support, enhancements, projects, and business consulting as required.

A strong understanding of the supply and trading business paired with effective communication skills, a continuous improvement mindset, and core technical skills are foundational to the success in this position.

 

Primary Job Functions :

• Partner with our businesses to provide IT consultation and solution delivery.  This includes understanding business challenges and active engagement in the end-to-end application development lifecycle – from evaluating the business requirements to designing technical specifications, testing, configuration, and implementation ;
• Collaborate with business and technical teams responsible for the daily operation and support of our business processes and applications ;
  • Support enterprise applications (e.g. SAP SD and MM modules) and integrated end-user analytical tools that consume transactional, operational, and market data ;
  • Respond to and resolve problem tickets and service requests raised by users ;
  • Utilize Agile frameworks and tools to plan, execute, and track work ;
• Strengthen your technical aptitude and leadership skills ;
• Emphasized by opportunities for continuous learning, building on your skills and experience .

 

Job Requirements :

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or IT-related fields  ;
• 3-7 years of hands-on functional experience supporting SAP MM or SD modules ;
• Extensive experience in end-user application support ;
• Good understanding of ABAP programming language for debugging and troubleshooting ;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills ;
• Able / willing to travel internationally on occasion (< 10%) ;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills ;
• Ability to work with cross-functional IT and business teams .

 

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities :

• Advantage: Working knowledge of Energy Trading Risk Management (ETRM) systems and asset-backed trading principles (e.g. position management, priced inventory, etc.) ;
• Experience with SAP IS-OIL module (formula & average pricing, exchanges, etc.) ;
• Working knowledge of Agile Frameworks (i.e. Scrum and Kanban) ;
• Ability to manage workload under time pressure and changing priorities ;
• Knowledge of business application product lifecycle (design, implementation, change management) .
