For more than 30 years, Médecins du Monde, a campaigning medical organisation committed to international solidarity, has been caring for the most vulnerable populations at home and abroad. MdM currently works in more than 45 countries across all continents where it focuses on 5 priority areas: emergency and crisis, sexual and reproductive health, harm reduction, migrants and displaced populations (health rights), health and environment.
In order to be reactive in the deployment of teams on the field, the emergency department manages flying coordinators who work on short or mid-term missions to ensure the implementation of emergency programs and to guarantee an efficient collaboration between headquarters teams and operational teams on the field.
Tasks and responsibilities:
Under the responsibility of the emergency unit manager, you will mainly work on short missions (1 to 4 months) in the field: exploratory missions, closure of projects, trainings. You will occasionally spend some time at headquarters to work on specific issues, development of tools, training preparation ect.
In the field (80%) you will be responsible for:
1. Needs assessment and emergency project designing missions:
- Participation in exploratory missions and in intervention strategy definition
- Operational participation in the emergency field missions (opening phase…)
2. Planification and coordination of emergency projects missions
- Implementation of projects in their logistical and security components
- Local coordination and team management
- Writing of proposals and reports in their logistical and security components
- Support to the General coordinator for the definition of security rules and supervision of their application
3. Technical support for missions on the logistical and security aspect
- Support on punctual needs: logistical implementation of small emergency responses for long term missions, consolidation of the security system in case of change of context, security crisis management, contingency plan/stocks elaboration…
4. Training and mentoring missions
- Capacity building or monitoring of logisticians or logistics coordinators on missions
- Specific trainings on protocols or intervention model on logistic components
In headquarters (20%), you will be responsible for:
- Capitalisation, formalisation of tools
- Participation in the writing of operations reports (logistics and security components)
- Remote operational follow up of missions (on logistics and security aspects)
- Technical support for desk officers for the development of emergency projects

Starting date: as soon as possible
2820 euro gross monthly salary on 13 months
Expatriation bonus (10% gross salary per month)

22.5 RTT (recovery days) per year
5 weeks of paid leaves per year.

Skills and experience needed:
You have a proven and solid experience in logistics coordination on the field in a NGO, in emergency contexts
You have experience in security management
You have a demonstrated experience in team management
You have good computing skills and a good knowledge of telecommunication tools
You have a good written and spoken communication
You have qualities of diplomacy, flexibility, organization and reactivity
You are able to work under pressure, live in tense security context and do not have problems to travel frequently
Languages
Fluent English and French essential
Spanish or Arabic desirable
