Scholarship Description :

Teagasc/UCD Knowledge Transfer Masters Programme in Ireland, 2019 is funded by Government of Ireland for International Students . The scholarship allows Masters level programm(s) in the field of Agricultural Innovation Support, Agriculture Extension taught at University College Dublin Ireland . The deadline of the scholarhip is May 27, 2019

Degree Level :

The scholarship is available for Master degree level programmes i.e

  1. Masters in Agricultural Innovation support ;
  2. Masters in agriculture extension.

 

Masters (MAgrSc) in Agricultural Innovation Support:

The aim of this programme is to equip partipants with the skills and knowledge to be effective in building the capacity of farmers to adopt new practices and technologies. The experience gained on this programme will equip participants well for future roles in advisory services, technical consultancy and education delivery.

This Masters is predominantly by Research (25% taught modules) and runs for 21 months (September – June). The programme includes a 15 month placement in a Teagasc office or education centre. Each year there is a list research topics to choose from and each candidate will have a both a Teagasc and UCD based thesis supervisor.

 

Masters (MAgrSc) in Agricultural Extension :

This is a two year taught Masters programme with students on professional placement for the full duration and completing modules for 90 credits (ECTs). Programme modules are designed to support traineeship type learning with assignments and projects focused on student’s professional placement / real life problems and challenges. On completion of this programme, students will be competent and professional agricultural advisors, committed to on-going reflective practice and seeking for more effective ways to support farmer decision making. Students will be able to develop and deliver appropriate agricultural advisory and educational programmes that serve the needs of farmers and farm families who are their clients. Students will adopt the skills to reflect critically on their practice as agricultural advisors and educators and be able to identify and exploit needs and opportunities for improved practice.

  • Agricultural Extension ;
  • Agrriculture Innovation support.

 

Scholarship Benefits :

The value of the Walsh Fellowship is €22,000 per annum out of which the recipient pays college fees. Students are paid monthly and are exempt from income tax. No PRSI or pension deductions are made. Travel expenses are paid at reduced rates. Subsistence, where eligible, is on the basis of approved and vouched receipts only.

 

Eligible Nationalities :

Student with any nationality can apply for the scholarship.

 

Eligibility Criteria : 

  • Applicants must have received at least 2.2. Honours BAgrSc (or equivalent) degree or equivalent degree ;
  • This programme is eligible for Masters (MAgrSc) in Agricultural Innovation Support and Masters (MAgrSc) in Agricultural Extension ;
  • Fluency in English is expected from candidates.
  • A CV and covering letter explaining qualification, motivation, and their research experience must be submitted.
