The United Nations University Gender Equality Studies and Training Programme (UNU-GEST) is now accepting applications for the academic year 2017-2018. Researchers of any nationalities are eligible to apply for these fellowships.
The Individual Fellowship scheme provides excellent financial compensation, career development and training and research support for the best or most promising researchers, seeking to undertake research in a European (The EU Member States or Associate Countries) context.
The mission of UNU-GEST is to use a multidisciplinary approach to promote gender equality and social justice in developing, conflict and post-conflict countries through high-quality, collaborative, and policy-relevant research; strengthening the capacity of professionals, scholars and organizations; and create a platform for transnational dialogue, knowledge production and exchange.

Eligibility:
The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the scholarship:
Applications are welcomed from experienced researchers only, i.e. you must be in possession of a doctoral degree or have at least four years equivalent research experience. Researchers can be of any nationality; however, at the date of the deadline, they must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the Iceland for more than 12 months in the preceding three years. Compulsory national service and/or short stays such as holidays are not taken into account.

English language Requirements:
Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.

Expressions of interest should be sent to psw-at-hi.is by midnight (GMT) on Monday, May 1, 2017. The expression of interest should consist of the following:
- A copy of your CV (following the Marie-Curie Individual Fellowship guidelines – see p. 49 of the guide available here) limited to a maximum of 5 pages.
- A two-page outline of the proposed research project.
