Programme Division (PD) is the largest Division in NYHQ of over 280 staff. It provides global technical leadership, influences global policy issues, enhances sectoral capacity and supports technical assistance for the field.

PD established as small taskforce comprising of PD Management, Staff Representative and HRBPs and is embarking on implementing a number of initiatives and activities related to staff engagement, including but not limited to, staff wellbeing and work- life balance, staff empowerment, career management and development, induction of new colleagues, effectiveness and efficiency, etc.

We are seeking an intern who will work very closely with the HRBPs to develop communication and promotional material  that promotes and markets those initiates to staff, as well as support the development of HR Related programmes in Learning and Development and career management.

 

How can you make a difference?

Learning and development and staff engagement Initiatives

  • Support in the development of orientation and induction material and production of videos in collaboration with PD Management Team,  Division of Communication and other stakeholders ;
  • Support the development and roll out of Mentorship Programme for PD staff  including the production of promotional information/material ;
  • Support in the implementation and roll out of various learning and capacity building activities including management development and career development, HR briefings and other related programmes ;
  • Support the development of a learning calendar ;
  • Support any other activities related to L&D and staff engagement.

Communication and Marketing

  • Market, promote and develop materials and digital publication such as infographic, flyers, videos and animated videos to communicate the various activities ;
  • Develop and roll out a Yammer Group for new comer’s ;
  • Develop and design a space in PD SharePoint for HR.

Location

The intern will be based in the office in New York within Division of Human Resources. It is not expected that the intern will travel during the assignment period. UNICEF is not responsible for obtaining any necessary visas.

Duration
This will be a full time internship for an initial period of six months from the start date.

Insurance :

UNICEF will not be responsible for costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during the intern’s service, whether on or off UNICEF premises. Therefore, the selected candidate must provide proof of enrolment in a health/accident plan prior to start his/her work with the Section.

If accepted, the intern will be required to provide a copy of health insurance coverage and to fill out the relevant UNICEF forms on conditions regarding service as an intern. There is no expectancy of employment at the end of the internship.

 

Living Conditions and Working Environment :

The intern will work at UNICEF 633 building, New York.  S/he will work with the PD and Human of Human Resources and report to the supervisor of this internship. S/he is not expected to travel out of this duty station during the assignment. A flexible workspace will be provided. The intern will be expected to participate in section meetings, as well as other UNICEF meetings of interest to the intern, including the seminar series for UNICEF interns. Guidance will be provided on a regular basis.

 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate or Ph.D. degree programme or have graduated within the past two years in communication, marketing, video production, or related field ;
  • Experience in human resources management, organizational development or a related field is a strong asset ;
  • Excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records ;
  • Experience in developing communication materials, Photoshop, video production, infographic design etc, are required ;
  • Experience in Web Design and SharePoint ;
  • Experience working in L&D and organizational development programmes is a strong asset ;
  • Strong verbal, and written communication skills including interpersonal skills are required  ;
  • Proven artistic abilities, innovation and creativity ;
  • Ability to work independently and in diverse teams is required.
