Purpose of the internship:

The UNICEF Internship Programme at UNICEF Seoul Office (Seoul Global Center, 38 Jongro Jongro-gu) offers qualified and eligible students the unique opportunity to acquire direct practical experience in UNICEF’s work and the United Nations system under the direct supervision of experienced UNICEF staff.

 

Key function and related duties/tasks:

Under supervision of Public Partnerships Specialist, the intern will undertake the following public advocacy activities to promote better understanding of UNICEF and its programmes: 

  • Support in preparation and organization of advocacy events such as symposiums, conferences, seminars and briefings;
  • PPD Seoul website monitoring and updating;
  • Press monitoring and support in review of advocacy documents;
  • Analysis of the Government of the Republic of Korea’s ODA trend;
  • Preparation and translation (Korean/English) of resource materials and reports;
  • Ability to draft documents, presentations in MS Office, Excel, Powerpoint.
  • Ability to work with people with different background, including different culture, gender, religion, race, nationality and age etc.
  • Any other business required by the supervisor and the office.

 

Durations:

  • Full time: 11 September 2018 to 28 February 2019 (5 days per week, 7 hours per day)
  • Part time: 11 September 2018 to 28 February 2019 (3 days per week, 7 hours per day)

    * Students who are currently enrolled in master’s program can apply for a part-time internship, but selected candidate is required to work minimum 3 full working days per week during the above mentioned period. Please indicate the days you can come to the office in the cover letter if you’d like to apply for a part-time internship.

 

Work Conditions:

Interns must fund themselves for their travel to the duty station, their accommodation and living expenses at the duty station during the internship. A monthly stipend may be paid by UNICEF.

  • UNICEF accepts no responsibility for the medical insurance of the intern or costs arising from accidents and illness incurred during the internship. Interns must demonstrate a proof of medical insurance prior to the beginning of the internship and covering the full internship period.
  • Interns are personally responsible for obtaining necessary visa covering the entire period of the internship.
  • There is no expectancy of employment at the end of the internship.
  • Interns may be expected to provide their own laptop.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Currently enrolled in a post-graduate university degree in the area of international development, communication, public health, education, human rights, social sciences or related field or have graduated within the past two years.
  2. Available for work in the office for either 3 or 5 days per week (7 hours per day)
  3. Strong interest in and knowledge of child rights, child protection, education, health, nutrition, international development cooperation and gender equality.
  4. Experience in project formulation and donor report writing is desirable.
  5. Excellent written and spoken English and Korean.
