WFP recruits a Volunteer Programme Unit (105785) – Tripoli , Libya

Purpose and scope of these Terms of Reference :

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in Libya resumed operations in Libya in September 2014. WFP’s General Food Assistance has been unconditional in-kind food assistance provision to vulnerable populations in Libya. WFP is also increasingly engaging across the humanitarian-development-peace nexus to support the review and rehabilitation of pre-crisis social protection systems.

The main purpose of the position is to help Programme team in performing the daily Programme follow up and tracking of activities during July and August.

Key responsibilities (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):

  1. Perform random checks on Programme archived data ;
  2. Perform Programme related data entry ;
  3. Compile Programme data and support analysis ;
  4. Ensure accurate and timely recording of the monthly and emergency distributions data ;
  5. Ensure daily update of the distribution dashboards ;
  6. Perform weekly Programme internal Programme report ;
  7. Help in the revision of Partners’ monthly invoices ;
  8. Help in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) tasks .

 

Qualifications, Experience and Skills :

Education :

  • Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable.

Experience :

  • Has contributed to implementation of programmes.

Soft skills :

  • Ability to dialogue with colleagues and solicit information in a considerate and respectful manner ;
  • Ability to work in a team and multi-task as needed ;
  • Ability to work independently in a timely and organised manner ;
  • Analytical, problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills ;
  • Willingness to explore and experiment with new ideas and approaches in own work .

Languages :

  • Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic.

 

General Conditions :

Interns’ Expenses :

  • Interns are not financially remunerated by WFP. All costs connected with an intern’s participation in the program must be borne by :
    • the nominating institution, related institution or government, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students ;
    • the student, who will have to obtain financing for subsistence and make his/her own arrangements for travel (including to and from the office), visas, accommodation, etc.

Insurance :

  • WFP accepts no responsibility for the medical and life insurance of the intern or costs arising from accidents and illness incurred during an internship ;
  • Applicants for internship must show proof of valid medical and life/accident insurance for the duty station for which they will work. It must include adequate coverage in the event of an injury or illness during the internship which: Requires transportation to the Home Country or Country of Residence for further treatment .

Third-party claims :

  • WFP is not responsible for any claims by any parties where the loss of or damage to their property, death or personal injury was caused by the actions or omission of action by the interns during the internship .

Subsequent Employment :

  • The purpose of the Internship Program is not to lead to further employment with WFP but to complement an intern’s studies. Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of an internship. Interns cannot apply for posts during the period of internship .

Status :

  • Interns are considered gratis personnel. They are not staff members ;
  • Interns may not be sought or accepted as substitutes for staff to be recruited against authorized posts ;
  • Interns may not represent WFP in any official capacity.
