Volunteer: Young Peacebuilders WordPress (WP) Developer

Start Date: As soon as possible

Hours: 5-10 hours weekly to be agreed

Commitment: 1-3 months (this is a short-term volunteer opportunity)

Reporting To: Communications Manager and Director

Location: Anywhere with good communications & Internet

What Young Peacebuilders (YP) Does

YP develops partnerships, research, projects, and tools that nurture peacebuilding passion and skill in children and youth with a focus on contexts impacted by armed conflict. In this way YP helps prevent and end cycles of violence. We also help design effective child and youth peacebuilding projects and research for others. We want to see a major shift in the dominant method of addressing contemporary conflicts toward investing in young people as peacebuilders.

Responsibilities

• Update YP WordPress website. You will be provided with a list of items that need to be fixed and reformatted, including changes to pages, plugins, media and other upgrades.
• We are using the Philanthropy theme by ThemeFuse
• Assist and instruct Communications Manager(s) on how to update, format, and manage the website
• Give guidance and instructions on site maintenance and tips/suggestions for future updates and changes
• Review existing theme customization to make sure everything is up to date and running smoothly. Make necessary changes as required
• Suggest or create fresh content for YP website

Minimum Qualifications

• Regular access to the Internet
• WordPress experience, ideally working with different theme customizations
• Desired: at least 1 year of experience in website management
• Technologically savvy with significant computer experience
• Extremely trustworthy
• Exceptional written and verbal communication
• Ability to work remotely
• Disciplined independent worker
